High School Programs


AI-Driven Communication (AIC)

Artificial intelligence has become increasingly prevalent in our lives. Whether in the form of algorithms, chatbots, data sciences, or machine learning, industry 4.0 has AI embedded in every aspect of it. Our daily lives encounter AI in social media, advertising, health sciences, and so much more. It is a necessity to teach the students of today about all forms of AI at a young age to better understand the world around them and be prepared for their future careers. AIC introduces students to this new-age technology through the world of chatbots and data sciences. They experience how machines learn, and “teach” their chatbot to be more human-like.

Aviation & Flight Science (AFS)

Aviation & Flight Science (AFS) is a high-flying STEM experience designed by veteran pilots and aerospace engineers. AFS offers students the opportunity to undertake a significant portion of real-world flight training inside their classrooms and apply their STEM learnings in the engaging aviation framework.

The program focuses on a realistic flight training curriculum where students will explore the fundamentals of flight controls, aerodynamics, and piloting skills. Students will be engaged in various activities requiring them to apply math and science knowledge to tackle challenges on computer flight simulators. During this interactive, experiential learning, students will be equipped with and continue to learn career skills, including critical thinking, public speaking, task management, teamwork, and effective communication.

Basic Robotics & Design Thinking (BRD)

Basic Robotics Design & Thinking (BRD) introduces students to robotics, electromechanical engineering, and software engineering. BRD begins with the basics of robotics's fundamental components and subsystems and how they are designed today. Students then advance to the integration phase of designing and developing a fully capable robot.

The students’ STEM knowledge and understanding are reinforced throughout these hands-on experiential learning projects designed with increasing levels of complexity.

Conceptual Engineering Milestones (CEM)

Conceptual Engineering Milestones (CEM) was designed by professionals with over 50 years of combined experience to open the minds of STEM students. Students explore a wide variety of career opportunities available in engineering, the steps to pursue these potential career choices, and an overview of the day-to-day life of an engineer across industry.

CEM engages students in conceptual and hands-on small-team projects, building skills and confidence, culminating in real-world simulated disaster recovery group projects. Students will broaden their STEM experience in this project-based laboratory by practicing key 21st-century skills, including critical thinking, problem-solving, public speaking, task management, teamwork, and effective communication.

Cybersecurity and Network Foundations (CYB)

Drone Operator Prep (DOP)

The Drone Operator Prep program focuses on the safe and successful operation of drones in the real world. The emergence of drones in everyday life has captured this generation’s imagination, and remotely-piloted systems are undoubtedly the way of the future!

The program covers drone aerodynamics,design architecture, and flight training opportunities on simulators. DOP serves as an intensive FAA test prep course for students aspiring to become licensed commercial drone operators. Built around multiple customer-focused projects, the DOP program instills safe operation and best practices while also preparing them for success in drone careers. DOP students learn to operate highly capable photography drones by applying their STEM knowledge in a real-world business setting. The program opens students’ minds to new career opportunities in the U.S. and around the world.

Drone Technology & Engineering (DTE)

Drone Technology and Engineering (DTE) offers students a basic overview of aerodynamics, unmanned aircraft architecture, and drone flight dynamics. Students apply their STEM knowledge by designing, building, and testing their racing drones in small teams, emulating an aerospace engineering program from beginning to end.

During this one-of-a-kind aerospace experience, students fly Line of Sight (LOS) and First Person View (FPV) on physical drones, build racing drones, and use structured engineering decision making to optimize their design. Student teams gather data while testing their newly built drone and compete in challenges to achieve real-world objectives.

Engineering Design Project (EDP)

The Engineering Design Project (EDP) is centered around a hands-on hovercraft group project and experiential learning—to better equip students with technical knowledge, communication, and professional skills. Students embark on the hovercraft design project, gaining experience in electronics, mechanics, soldering, assembly, and testing prototypes.

Students will complete a requirements analysis, milestone reviews, and schedule management by emulating a real-world engineering program. The project culminates with the students creating a complex, physical hovercraft of their design to meet program specifications and running detailed test programs. Students will benefit from the technical and soft skills acquired during this course for years to come, regardless of their chosen career path.

IoT Devices and Applications (IDA)

IoT Devices & Applications (IDA) broadens students’ software horizons by diving into software application interoperability using IoT. Leveraging a web-based database, students are able to connect multiple platforms together using shared data. The project integrates the Raspberry Pi and Sense Hat as an IoT device reading and writing data to a cloud-based database. Students build a mobile app using Thunkable, create a website with HTML, JavaScript, and CSS, which interact with each other through the database.

Robotics & Automated Systems (RAS) - Level 1

Robotics and Automated Systems (RAS) 1 features state-of-the-art technologies that rapidly propel students from foundational topics into electromechanical systems, app development, and engineering design. RAS students' critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills will be tested throughout the program.

Students will have the opportunity to learn about a variety of engineering disciplines, with a focus on robotics and artificial intelligence. They will gain hands-on experience building bio-inspired hexapod robots, mastering mechanical and electrical integration, testing and troubleshooting, and developing mobile applications to control their hexapod. Staying true to Milestone C's mission to shape well-rounded future STEM leaders, RAS is a must for all students regardless of their future aspirations.

Robotics & Automated Systems (RAS) - Level 2

Robotics and Automated Systems (RAS) 2 dives into 3D modeling, printing, and Arduino programming. Students will modify their hexapods with custom-built parts and automate movements for a robot dance competition. After building these skills, students embark on a design challenge where they will develop, manufacture, program, and integrate custom robotic arms onto their hexapods, creating a lunar rover per engineering requirements.

RAS 2 simulates a career in engineering as a NASA supplier, introducing schedule and business considerations alongside technical design. During this space exploration hands-on project, student-built lunar rovers compete to deploy, collect, and transport samples to a “home base” on a simulated lunar terrain.

Software Design & Integration (SDI)

Software Design & Integration (SDI) requires no prior coding experience and introduces students to software development and design thinking. SDI builds students’ understanding of basic coding concepts by engaging them through games. This program uses hardware and software to explore the software development process.

Students will navigate software’s multi-faceted world following a project-based road map to acquire key professional skills. Students develop games through object-oriented programming and basic control structures, leaving them with a significant sense of accomplishment. SDI establishes a solid foundation in software development and creates a big-picture understanding of interface management and the engineering process at large.

Workplace Learning Capstone (WLC)

Workplace Learning Capstone (WLC) is an open-ended semester-long project mimicking workplace practices and prototype development. Students are provided with a framework, timelines, and set deliverables requiring them to work within their team to execute the entire design life cycle - planning, analysis, design, and implementation. Students are responsible for scheduling, budgeting, and technical aspects, simulating a real-world high-tech development project.

This project is software- and hardware-focused, emphasizing project freedom and providing high-engagement opportunities for students to explore their interests. The student groups are structured as cross-functional engineering teams, facilitating cohesive and consistent progress throughout the design process. By solving real-world problems, students apply a multitude of career and technical skills. WLC is an exceptional college resume builder.

Drone Exploration & Automation (DEA) is a dynamic three-unit program that equips middle school students with a solid foundation in drone technology, aerodynamics, flight dynamics, and the principles of coding. Through a carefully structured curriculum, participants will embark on an exhilarating journey of discovery, culminating in the ability to program drones to accomplish specific tasks autonomously.

Robotics & Automated Systems - Middle School (RAS-MS)

Robotics & Automated Systems Middle School (RAS MS) students experience robotics and automation through hands-on activities with the bio-inspired hexapod robot and app development. They are introduced to career skills at various stages throughout the program. Students will build a mobile application learning the basic building blocks of apps, including designing user interfaces and handling events for controlling the Hexapod robot. Students gain practical experience in app development and valuable insights into robotics and AI.
