Dear Partners and Friends,
I’m thrilled to share important news about the next chapter in Milestone C’s journey.
As of November 14, Milestone C has been acquired by SME, a nationwide, nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing manufacturing and developing North America’s talent pipeline for nearly 100 years. This acquisition will allow us to bring our hands-on, project-based STEM programs to more students and schools across the country—helping even more young people discover what’s possible at the intersection of creativity, technology, and teamwork and further support them with access to scholarships, student memberships, and other relevant resources.
When I founded Milestone C, my goal was to bridge the gap between classroom learning and the real-world skills needed in today’s industries. Joining SME enables us to expand our student impact nationally, reaching more classrooms and inspiring more students, while working with an organization already advancing workforce development in a holistic and meaningful way with its deep roots into thousands of manufacturing companies and academic institutions nationwide.
Together, we’re building a seamless pathway for students—from middle school curiosity to high school readiness to college and career confidence. The goal of our programs align closely with SME’s national workforce initiatives, including SME PRIME®, Tooling U-SME, and the Manufacturing Imperative–Workforce Pipeline Challenge (MI-WPC).[WN1] You can learn more about SME here.
While our mission remains the same, our reach and impact will grow. The Milestone C team will continue its work from Connecticut, collaborating closely with the other parts of SME to create even more opportunities for students, educators, and partners nationwide.
We’re deeply grateful for your continued partnership and support as we take this exciting step forward. Together, we’ll continue inspiring the next generation of engineers, technologists, and innovators.
Warm regards,
David Conelias
