Learning About Wine
Hardly anyone knows how to buy wine these days. Perhaps we can blame advertising for that fact. The level of ignorance about wine is amazing. People only seem to recognise the terms that the media is prepared to feed them and little of the truly ancient craft of the vitculturalist remains in common understanding. It would be wonderful if that could change. Wine is not to be viewed solely as a means of getting toasted (except in the sense of a toast at dinner time that is) but is there as a part of our history and our culture and a statement about our future as well. Do we not toast the future? Wine is something to appreciate, not merely enjoy. The artistry of wine, which is good to know about if you are setting out to buy wine, enriches your life and brings every day to a head in a successful ending with a glass of wine.
